For Frieze Los Angeles 2024, SIZED presented SIZED SELECTS, a site-specific installation that examined Los Angeles car culture through a sculptural and curatorial lens. Held at the former Howard Hughes headquarters, with a satellite location at The West Hollywood EDITION, the activation recontextualized a fleet of all-black automobiles as formal objects within a gallery environment.

Curated under the creative direction of Alexander May, with contributions from Damon Jones, the selection featured vehicles spanning decades — from rare vintage models to contemporary icons — highlighting the evolution of engineering and design language. Cars on view included a 1993 Vector W8, a 1982 Rolls-Royce Corniche Convertible, a 2002 Porsche 911 GT2, and a 1993 Mercedes 500SEC AMG, among others. The monochromatic palette functioned as a conceptual reduction, allowing silhouette, line, and proportion to come forward as primary visual elements.

As part of the activation, SIZED collaborated with designer Willo Perron to produce a 65-foot custom table and 80 limited-edition transparent chairs for USM Modular Furniture, anchoring the space in architectural rhythm and communal scale.

In the evenings, the installation transformed into a dining experience in partnership with culinary collective We Are Ona. Vehicles were partially draped in silk fabric to accentuate form and shadow, creating an immersive environment for a series of curated dinners.

SIZED SELECTS was a reflection on Los Angeles’ deep-rooted relationship with the automobile — a meditation on movement, material, and monochrome as cultural signifiers.
